The weekend Maktab is designed to provide a balanced Islamic education, focusing on foundational skills and knowledge in a structured, engaging, and age-appropriate manner.

Programme Structure

The weekend Maktab is designed to provide a balanced Islamic education, focusing on foundational skills and knowledge in a structured, engaging, and age-appropriate manner.

1. Classes Offered
  • Qaida Class:

    • For beginners, focusing on mastering Arabic letters, pronunciation, and basic reading skills.

    • Goal: To build a strong foundation for Quranic reading.

  • Quran Class:

    • For students who have progressed beyond the Qaida, focusing on fluent Quranic recitation with Tajweed.

    • Goal: To ensure students recite the Quran accurately and confidently.

 
2. Basic Islamic Studies

The curriculum includes:

  • Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence):

    • Understanding daily acts of worship (e.g., prayer, fasting).

    • Practical lessons tailored to the students' age groups.

  • Hadith:

    • Introduction to key sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

    • Lessons highlighting morals, character, and daily application.

  • Duas:

    • Memorisation and understanding of essential daily prayers.

    • Emphasis on the relevance of duas in different situations.

  • Arabic Language:

    • Basic vocabulary and sentence structure to complement Quranic understanding.

    • Fun and interactive activities to keep students engaged.

Writing: Letter formation, short sentences, story starters. Grammar: Capital letters, full stops. Maths Number: Counting to 100, number bonds to 10. Addition/Subtraction: Single digits. Shape: 2D and 3D shapes. Measurement: Length, height, weight, days of the week. Science Topics: Seasons, animals, plants. Experiments: Growing seeds, observing weather. Year 2 Curriculum English Phonics: Blends and digraphs. Reading: Longer sentences, early chapter books. Writing: Short stories, description using adjectives. Grammar: Nouns, verbs, punctuation. Maths Number: Counting in 2s, 5s, 10s. Addition/Subtraction: Two-digit numbers. Shape: Properties of shapes. Measurement: Time (to the hour/half-hour), money. Science Topics: Materials, habitats. Experiments: Sorting materials, simple animal classification. Year 3 Curriculum English Reading: Chapter books, comprehension skills. Writing: Paragraphs, simple narratives.
